Please please think before sending your child here. The staff have no people skills. They hide at the doors and you can tell who they like and don’t like just by the man and Women on the gate. The greeting, or rather lack of, speaks volumes. They have taken a student on course for the top gcse results and stuck him in a construction course for send children and now has no hope of any gcse’s in my opinion. They struggle massively with simple things like emailing back or answering the phone! The phone thing is super frustrating when you have a 10 min break at work and the primary nor high school phone never gets answered. I don’t really understand why they have receptionists. I’ve had arguments with teachers at this school which is not what you want when you just want your children to do well. My child has been chased in this school, called names and then been singled out to sit alone when he had done nothing wrong. They don’t do discos for the primary, or fairs or anything really and they make you buy all of your own nativity costumes and tried to ask the high school parents for over £1000 for a trip for the children. What happened to making it inclusive for everyone? Like a bit of camping or something. They like to single pupils out. The problem is, there are around 500 students eating at a time, the school has now opened the memorial hall (assembly hall) to eat in too, this hall however only has around 5 tables , that's around 50 seats, this leaves us with 250 students left, where do they go, you ask? Outside. What if its raining, you ask? Tough luck. The ques for school food are horrendous, so much so that the school had to extend lunch due to people not getting food even though they lined up from the start of lunch, however this did not fix things, out of your 30 minute lunch, you can guarantee you will end up with maybe 5 minutes to eat. Because of this, many puch in these ques and nothing is done about it. The food it's self is relatively nice, inside you can get warm food, sweet treats + fruit and drinks, outside you can get the same. In the memorial hall you can get cold foods, such as sandwiches, salads etc. along with sweet treats, fruit and drinks. The school also has a £5 spending limit a day (you pay for food via your pin code you are given, to put money in your account you can do it online or with cash using a machine in the canteen).
Let's move on to the bathroom situation, during lesson time, the bathrooms in the main block and art block are locked, the only way to get in these is if you have a key or pass, however the person responsible for the art block toilets often forgets the keys. The bathrooms in the pe block are often open, due to the pride center being located in that building too. During break time, the toilets in the main block are opened on the ground floor and first floor, during lunch they are only open on the ground floor. The 3rd floor toilets do not get used. Each floors girls bathroom holds 1 disabled stall and around 8 regular stalls, however the bathroom on the ground floor only has 5 working stalls with 3 usually taken up by people vaping or on phones. As a result the que for the bathroom is extremely long during lunch, most of the time you have to choose between queuing for the bathroom or for food as you won't be able to get both.Moving on to the classrooms, they arnt anything specific if a little small. Every classroom has a desk that has an adjustable hight incase a wheel chair user needs it.The teachers. I'm going to try and make this as short as positive but it's gonna be a long one. Let's start with the fact that several students have left the school due to the teachers. One teacher being sacked in one situation, but not before the student felt the need to transfer. There are teachers that are extremely nice and good at there job but there are also teachers that will lie. They will exaggerate the situation lie to patrol so they can have a "reason" to remove a student from the lesson. Many teachers abuse there power with patrol and as a result, many miss out on a large amount of education. For example a student was sent to a day in isolation (isolation, iso or ifty) for telling the teacher to, quote "go away", the teacher then radioed patrol as a student had "assaulted him".
Isolation- quite literally a corridor that students get locked In, inside the pe block, they are not expected to complete work and are often allowed on there phones. This leads to large education loss.
Patrol (behaviour management) work well with students and do help quite a bit but can definitely be a tad harsh, for instance, a student was once screamed at (and I mean screamed at) for disrupting the lesson (going on his phone to check the time). He was told , quote "you are a disgrace *name*, you really are pathetic! Get here now! *name* Get your bag now! You too *name 2*!"
en
First I would like to mention that the school is extremely overpopulated, with approximately 1000 students, there is simply not enough classrooms, the dining hall can comfortablely fit 150 people, max 200 people.
You too *name 2*!\
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocIsEUmUJ3qHfJzKsqyDtYH08w6pxFXqYvyr0tv6m6Xa=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo
2023-02-13T03:26:59Z"}]
