All the staff who filed past to exit the office were of little to no help and did not seem to care that I had been desperately looking for my child for the past half hour, no, they were far too concerned with getting back home than to make sure issues such as a scared child, new to the school, being able to be picked up. When the so-called head-master came out (Mr. Lynch) he was very rude to me, being unprecedentedly short and downright snooty, he did not even pretend to show that he cared about how I felt about the poor handling of the situation. He had no manners or PR skills, and in fact, I felt like I was being treated as a criminal in the likeness of a child molester by the way the affairs were being conducted. They were 'concerned about the safety' of the boy, but were all to eager to get us both inside and leave me in a locked room, alone with the poor 9 year old who was too shocked to talk. In this room, neither of us could get out if there was an emergency - the only way out, it seemed, was to get a staff member to use a finger scanner to allow passage to and from the reception area into where the kids' play-school area was. There was no indication that there was an emergency exit or directions towards one, I did see a breakable green box, but it had, for some reason, a cover over it. When I tried to raise these issues with the staff, they more or less kept trying to brush me off and were not in the least part interested in what I had to say to them (Mr. Lynch and company) about my concerns and just repeated 'o.k.' in a mantra-like fashion. I am not a bad person, nor do I ever (or did) raise my voice to have caused such a poor show and outright disgusting lack of respect towards me. The whole unwarranted situation made me loose faith in not only the staff and pupils at this school, but in the rest of the English primary schools. If this is the way such simple situations and encounters are handled (when they should be handled with respect in an amicable manner) then I'm sure there are many instances in school life where such negative conditioning is imparted onto the children, as you can well imagine occurs in school playgrounds and classes. The most saddening thing was that there were so many staff there and they all seemed to not care about any of what was going on and simply stood there like sheep. I know in my heart of hearts that there are good teachers around and indeed, good schools. All the staff who filed past to exit the office were of little to no help and did not seem to care that I had been desperately looking for my child for the past half hour, no, they were far too concerned with getting back home than to make sure issues such as a scared child, new to the school, being able to be picked up. When the so-called head-master came out (Mr. Lynch) he was very rude to me, being unprecedentedly short and downright snooty, he did not even pretend to show that he cared about how I felt about the poor handling of the situation. He had no manners or PR skills, and in fact, I felt like I was being treated as a criminal in the likeness of a child molester by the way the affairs were being conducted. They were 'concerned about the safety' of the boy, but were all to eager to get us both inside and leave me in a locked room, alone with the poor 9 year old who was too shocked to talk. In this room, neither of us could get out if there was an emergency - the only way out, it seemed, was to get a staff member to use a finger scanner to allow passage to and from the reception area into where the kids' play-school area was. There was no indication that there was an emergency exit or directions towards one, I did see a breakable green box, but it had, for some reason, a cover over it. When I tried to raise these issues with the staff, they more or less kept trying to brush me off and were not in the least part interested in what I had to say to them (Mr. Lynch and company) about my concerns and just repeated 'o.k.' in a mantra-like fashion. I am not a bad person, nor do I ever (or did) raise my voice to have caused such a poor show and outright disgusting lack of respect towards me. The whole unwarranted situation made me loose faith in not only the staff and pupils at this school, but in the rest of the English primary schools. If this is the way such simple situations and encounters are handled (when they should be handled with respect in an amicable manner) then I'm sure there are many instances in school life where such negative conditioning is imparted onto the children, as you can well imagine occurs in school playgrounds and classes.
