Welcome | Hillside Avenue Primary and Nursery School, Thorpe
Welcome Home Our School Welcome At Hillside Avenue Primary and Nursery School, we know that choosing your child's school is one of the most important decisions that a parent will make. We hope that this website will give you all of the information that you need to feel confident that Hillside Avenue is the right place for you and your child. The school is located in the town of Thorpe St Andrew on the eastern side of Norwich, close to the River Yare. Built in the 1930's the school is organised around a large central garden which is used by the younger children for outdoor learning and playtimes and also benefits from a large field that the children enjoy in the warmer months of the year at playtimes and in PE lessons too. It really is a lovely place to be. In 2022, the school joined the Broad Horizon Education Trust and has been going from strength to strength ever since. We hope that you choose to join us on this journey. At Hillside Avenue, we work very hard to help every child to flourish. This will mean different things to different people, as every child and family will have different lived experiences and will have different dreams and aspirations too. With support from the Broad Horizons Education Trust, we intend to help every child to be ambitious for their future, be curious and optimistic in their learning and to work hard to achieve their goals. This is achieved through collaboration between home and school, a keen focus on learning and a culture of inclusion which supports each child to learn and grow through their primary years. By celebrating diversity and meeting individual needs we aim to enable every child at Hillside Avenue Primary and Nursery School to achieve their best every day and to be the authors of their own life stories. Please contact the school office for more information and a tour of the school. We look forward to meeting you and your child. Mr C Hutchinson Headteacher

History | Hillside Avenue Primary and Nursery School, Thorpe
History Home Curriculum Curriculum Vision History At Hillside Avenue, we aim to promote a passion for History and a curiosity about the past which encourages children to engage enthusiastically in their historical learning, leading to a thorough knowledge and understanding of people and events from a range of historical periods. Pupils will gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Children will have the confidence to ask and answer questions. They will want to find out what caused events to happen and why. They will learn to use different historical sources to support a line of enquiry and be able to question its reliability. Formulating a viewpoint and respectfully challenging othersâ
