However, I cannot ignore the fact that in her time at the trust's schools both here and Trafalgar college, my daughter has continued to thrive. It seems to me that this is due in no small part to the school's behaviour policies, which ensure that teachers can spend more time actually teaching and less time dealing with disruptive pupils. That said, the school does on occasion, seem to actively court controversy with some of its more extreme policies.\nIt certainly would not suit everyone, but I feel that those who really want to study, would find it a good environment in which to do so.\nbest advice to prospective parents would be to visit and see for yourselves, they are very accommodating of this and you are free to view lessons, breaks, etc without any staged situations.","languageCode":"en"},"originalText":{"text":"I'm certainly no fan of the Inspiration trust. I am currently attending this school and it has not done me wonders. My boi Barry Smith is the Head Teacher and has made very questionable decisions.\n\nFirst, be reminded this this place went from a high school to a full-on military academy, so the obvious thing is \"Bags in your RIGHT hand\", a rule I question even today, It makes no real sense to need to do that, I mean, COME ON!! Next is the \"S.L.A.N.T\" Rule, basically you need to cross your arms at all times, unless your walking around. At lunchtime, you are DEMANDED to stay inside the building until authorized to head to the main yard. Break time is very secluded into staying in one place for 15 minutes. They hang quotes from visitors around the walls, possibly for a morale boost. The atmosphere is like a prison, nearly EVERY day, we're being shouted at because someone left 1 or 2 pieces of rubbish on the floor. \"SOMEBODY'S MOTHER, SOMEBODY'S FATHER HAS TO CLEAN THAT!!\"- Barry Smith. People are pushing in the lines for break and lunch, I don't get food as a consequence. Clubs still exist, but many have been closed down and they blame it on us. I used to attend the badminton club, GONE!! I will admit that GCSE score averages have increased, but the amount of people Expelled or just left the school is astounding that the goodie-two-shoes are the ones that stay and increase averages. I am not at the GCSE point yet but I am aware that the pressure would be too much for those who have a life outside school. Homework is relatively easy, it may as well not exist in this place. I asked some new kids for their GENUINE opinions, here are some quotes, \"Ugh, I really can't imagine what it'll be like for the Thamesfield people to have to come here.\" \"This place is utter SH*T\" \"I want to leave\". Students put up a show for the teachers. We learn 3 acronyms at the start of the year, and we don't even remember what they stand for, S.L.A.N.T, S.H.A.P.E and S.T.E.P.S (I don't remember these acronyms to be honest). My old friend Toby Holloway once attended this school a year ago, he left due to the pressure on us (we're autistic you see, me slightly less than him), there was a system for him and others called TITAN, it was removed when Charter came around. ENTIRE SUBJECTS WERE REMOVED, Art Textiles, Woodwork, ICT, Cooking and more, I want to learn to program but THAT'S NOT AN OPTION ANYMORE!! You may ask, \"hey _____,( Censored so Mr Smith doesn't know who I am )=) ), why do you stay at Charter?\" I reply with , \"I have no choice, it's the only school in the area, but my parents have considered homeschooling me.\" Mr Smith is overly aggressive to everyone who steps even SLIGHTLY out of line, he also blesses us with a spit shower every time he talks. I talked to some of the parents that came into the building and they said they hated it before even getting a tour, I asked, \"why not review it?\" they said that they didn't want their children in trouble because they reviewed a school. The staff tell you different, but they want to leave as much as you do, I was waiting to have my bike lock cut off, cuz my keys were taken by some year 11 students, a teacher told another that they wanted out of the job, and wanted to disguise it, they're still here, mind you.\n\nWhat a school, huh? I have been ignored for my disabilities and my friend has left because of it, this is the end of my review of Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.","languageCode":"en"},"originalText":{"text":"Welcome to my review of Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.
