The few good teachers were visibly frustrated and would usually leave in 1-2 years. Recently heard extremely offensive remarks towards minorities from faculty. Such a visibly pandering school, they do not care about the students, visibly condescending and cold teachers, everything to do with “well-being” is a farce. It is so dear to my children’s heart that weekends and school breaks become “unwelcome” as they want to stay in school. It is one of the international school where you will have a lot of friends that grow up with you since 3 years old until graduation, and the teacher who taught the older siblings, may continue to teach the younger ones.

Before my older one joined TTS from another renowned school in Singapore, she was described by her ex-school’s teachers as painfully shy, and her last teacher refused to give her public speaking opportunities as she was shy to speak in front of her class.

The first week in Tanglin, her teacher Miss M shared she was doing really well, and they were making progresses - first on small things, such as having a conversion with eye contact. That is when I was amazed on how the teacher understood her immediately, and how soon they started to take actions step by step, and they made it sounds natural and not a big deal.

Since then, my shy daughter started to feel more confident, by year 5 she met the teacher who until now she still feel grateful. He built confidence not only in my girl, but all the kids in the class in various developing areas. When the year 5 kids took the English Speaking board exam, none of the kids feel nervous and the results were amazing. By year 6, my daughter told me the painfully annoying “butterfly” does not bother her any more, even when being the narrater of the junior school graduation ceremony. She was transformed.

And, she met the friends who she feels like family. She blended in so well since day one as all the kids are just “color/nationality blind”. When she undertook a major operation in year 6, she returned to school 4 days after the procedure as she missed her school so much, and she wanted to join the music production of year 6 less than a week of the operation. The class had to adjust the roles and lines for everyone, so that she won’t need to lift anything heavy or move too much. None of her friends complained, and they all protect her as if she was à precious and fragile cargo. That is one of the best production delivered by all students in the year group, every individual was a star and they all enjoyed their moments.

And as a girl who has motor planning delays since she was very young, the school encourages her to compete in sports. The PE teacher called me when I shared her situation, and they provided me a clear path on how to support my girl. She even played in a sports team to compete with other schools. I feel the school cares more of their students, than results or ranking. You can feel this in daily life in school.

It is truly a best school for our kids until today.
en
It is the best school for my children, and my children’s classmates.
