The SEN staff try their best, although the school really needs more TAs. The SEN staff try their best, although the school really needs more TAs. They don't have much funding for SEND like many schools and the department is under a lot of pressure with the amount of SEN students and even with a statement they still find it hard to put the support in place, I can just see the pressure in the department, but I can't explain. basically the school can't provide high level support, full time 1:1 TA etc because there's only 2 full time TAs and many of us have a statement requiring the TAs. however if you have a lower special need, or different requirements in your statement, such as less TA support, then the school is good as a lunchtime and break group is provided and a lot of 1:1 and group interventions such as dyslexia and maths etc happen. the teachers havnt got a clue though on autism, only a couple have some sort of expereince.
