reviews: [{"relativePublishTimeDescription":"8 years ago","rating":2,"text":{"text":"My son has been at the school since year 7 now in year 11. Academically he has done well he's worked very hard and he has got to a good level I feel he's achieved all he can.\n\nHowever he was bullied for years to the point where we had to get police and local authority involved the school was admitting he never did anything wrong and he was being targeted however they seemed more concerned over protecting the bullies. Eventually it stopped but my son got hit on a couple of occasions once with a cricket bat, he got strangled, kicked and grabbed in his private area, regularly got called names and pushed was a hellish couple of years and did eventually mean he has not done PE for yrs as it seemed to be a free for all and bullies could really get him then. I feel they really let him down and didn't protect him or follow any of their anti bullying policies.\n\nThe final thing is probably the worst thing they have ever done my son applied to do 6th form in oct\/nov 2014 (he was at start of yr 11) all was put in place for him to stay on at SCC for 6th form however a week before they really started all GCSE exams they school has changed all its 6th form and is not offering most courses so now 7 weeks before they leave school many parents like myself are desperately trying to find courses for our kids to do at other schools. SCC has offered little or no support and other local schools are dealing with a huge amount of applications of students from SCC and are saying they wont be able to accommodate everyone. The school has made no apology over this and I personally have emailed headmistress however no response.\n\nOverall there are some great teachers & teaching assistants at SCC however as a school I find it very untrustworthy and would advise any parent considering it for your child to not put much faith in their policies. I have two younger sons who I will definitely not be sending to SCC as the points that they have let me down on have been huge and had a massive effect on my child. I guess my final comment would be its a very untrustworthy school overall however I do want to say again this does not reflect most of teachers individually as they work hard.","languageCode":"en"},"originalText":{"text":"My son has been at the school since year 7 now in year 11. Myself and 2 daughters (year 7 & 9) moved to Sittingbourne August last year and was left with SCC as the only school in the area that had availability (after an appeal for my eldest). I've had no choice but to remove my daughters from the school. My youngest ended up depressed and scared to go to school due to extreme bullying by pupils and a teacher. The teacher shouted at my daughter and whilst she was in tears was told she should leave the School after she said she was unhappy. Bullies picked on her for her ethnicity making horrible comments about her afro hair styles and older pupils swore at her calling her ugly.\nMy eldest was assaulted on 3 occasions by pupils, racially abused, and continuously bullied and targeted. One occasion my daughter was denied lunch after she accidentally bumped into a pupil whilst rushing to get something to eat. The school attempted to blame my daughter as she has special education needs. They then blamed problems on the issues my daughter had with medication. No provisions were put in place when she started at the school despite my daughter having had a SEN plan since her diagnosis years ago.\nDespite numerous pleas with the school and meetings the school ignored the bullying and claimed it didn't exist.\nThe parent and school relationship is non existent and they fail to communicate or work with the parent.\nMy children were rarely given homework, the school stopped Design Technology subjects in year 7 so they could shift funds elsewhere forcing at least one teacher to lose her job and whenever I attempted to obtain information on children's progress and how I can help to improve then I was dismissed.\nThe school is geared towards statistics and figures and have very poor pastoral care. They also are very poor in tackling bullying and if you complain they will try and claim your child is the bully.\nI've had to home school my girls whilst finding a new school. My youngest is receiving counselling due to the bullying and the school did not help at all, when I informed them of what my daughter was going through I received a non-attendance notice. My eldest is happy she does not have to go to SCC however she is now behind in school work.\nI honestly could go on about the failings of this school but I am so tired of having to deal with them and still picking up the pieces. However I will be making an official complaint and raising everything with Ofsted and Education department.\nI strongly advise that if your child is smart, timid and especially from ethnic minority that you avoid placing them at SCC as they will suffer like my daughters did.","languageCode":"en"},"originalText":{"text":"This school has destroyed my two lovely girls and affected me detrimentally, so much so that I am in the process of moving back to London.
