reviews: [{"relativePublishTimeDescription":"3 years ago","rating":1,"text":{"text":"I chose this school above another nearer home as was rated good at the time. However this school has failed my daughter.\n\nThe school's mission and vision statement along with headteachers introduction is at odds with our experience which I will try to outline below.\n\nNo parental communication outside of parents evening.\n\nChildren allowed to drop subjects without parental discussion.\n\nChildren sent out of class to stand in corridors repeatedly and are left to stand there for the whole duration of the lesson. Over her 5 years at the school this happened with a particular art, science and english teacher even when her IPR said her attitude to learning was good in other subjects. If a childs behaviour is allegedly so bad they need to be removed from a class then detention should be given so this is visible and can be questioned by the parent at the time not after months of missed learning spent standing in corridors...I had to constantly chase the school to get her moved to different teachers in these instances so she could get an education. In relation to the science teacher I also had to question with the school that describes itself as a science specialist, why it allows a teaching methodology where students in that class are given worksheets and told to copy the answers from the board in every lesson for over a year with no required practical being taught. After a year I was able to get her moved but that was then year 11 which gave her no time to catch up resulting in no GCSE in combined science.\n\nIn year 10 after being attacked in class and getting her arm broken I demanded she be moved to classes where the perpetrator was not, again not quick, my daughter was bounced around various english classes and sat in corridors to work from sheets. This continued into year 11 when without discussion she was told she had to return to her original class. When she did she was told she was not on the register so was sent out, she returned to her interim class where the teacher wouldn't accept her as she wasn't on their register either and so she was back on the bench in the corridor again... After chasing the school they eventually moved her back to her original class which was now covered by a supply teacher, then the school shut due to covid 19. Her IPRs had her predicted a 4 she left with no English GCSE.\n\nWhilst I acknowledge teenagers can be difficult whenever my daughter tried to challenge the situations she found herself in she was dismissed repeatedly. No encouragement or nurturing or even understanding of the impact this was having on her education even though her attitude to learning declined dramatically from the point of entry to the school to the day she left.","languageCode":"en"},"originalText":{"text":"I chose this school above another nearer home as was rated good at the time.
