Forgetting about it, many months later, I was pulled out from lessons by two senior members of staff and put under very serious, intense interrogation. A threat of expulsion from the school was implied should I not remove my review.
The matter, though a minor part of my time as QES does well to highlight the key problem with the school, which is it takes itself too seriously.

There is an ethos among the schools leadership that works to the detriment of providing what could be a superb education for all. Leadership's obsession with the schools image, uniform and pupils need to meet certain criteria is drilled into students and staff alike, overshadowing genuine ways to really help students excel.
Students are repeatedly punished for underachieving and not meeting needlessly stringent criteria, rather than being helped to realize the best method of learning for them. For students like myself for whom academic achievement is not motivation in itself, the schools 'one size fits all' approach to education became a paradox of underachievement.

Overall I enjoyed my time here, QES is a good school with great grounds, facilities, and a few really great teachers. Unfortunately it is let down by it's leadership.
en
Awful

A year or two ago I jokingly left a one star review simply stating 'awful'. The site boasts big and immaculately kept school grounds and well equipped classrooms and facilities. I left as a sixth former back in 2013 after having been there from day one of year 7. Some of the negatives about the school include: the fact that teaching and leadership staff are insanely obsessed with the school and are very very proud of the school as a result. I also feel that there are some teachers who are more professional and of a higher capability than others. I won't name any but some of them really are quite poor, making you wonder how they got past the interview process with the self-obsessed Mr Clarke. Another criticism I have is the extremely misleading and judging grading system. Students are graded each term on their overall effort in lessons, a scale of 1-5, 1 being really bad and 5 really good. Everything seems to evolve around these effort grades so if you're got anything less than a 3, you'll have your head of year on your back until the next term where the next set of effort grades are due. You will also be put on the shameful 'report' and have that down in your records. Despite those few niggles the school is still ok and the atmosphere amongst the pupils is largely good. However, I think the school would benefit from turning over a new leaf, employing some new staff (sacking some old less capable staff), a rethink of the pupil grading system and a fresh ofsted report so that some experts can offer some more advice- the school must need a new ofsted soon and maybe it might only be able to scrape at a good score rather than the overrated outstanding.
en
This school has some real potential. As much I appreciate the fact that they want students to look smart when representing the school, it effected your learning constantly. If they are so intent on giving you the best education possible why drag pupils out of lessons for the stupidest of reasons. Getting sent to the deputy head for having my hair in a clip instead of a plain black or green bobble is ridiculous. Not being allowed to walk around the school, enter or leave lessons or assemblies without your green fleece on was not allowed or for having plain black socks over tights (when it’s cold, as it’s against school uniform policies).
