Head’s Welcome | South Wilts Grammar School, Stratford Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 3JJ
Head’s Welcome South Wilts provides a high quality education where academic achievements are very strong. As a school we believe strongly in offering a broad and balanced curriculum and this can be seen in the sixth form which has a strong academic offer. Our students can choose from 27 A level / Level 3 qualifications, alongside a number of additional GCSE subjects, such as astronomy. Our most recent Ofsted inspection, in October 2019, summarised the many strengths of the school. It begins with South Wilts is a thriving school where senior leaders expect high academic standards, whilst placing emphasis on pupils’ personal development. Teachers are experts in their fields. They are passionate about their subjects and they pass on this enthusiasm to the pupils. The pupils’ eagerness to learn makes a significant contribution to the success of the school. Governors are enthusiastic in their commitment to the school. Their vision has maintained the high quality of education through a period of expansion. This school is well led. The headteacher and her senior team provide highly principled leadership. We, at South Wilts, not only focus on academic excellence but help our students to become independent and resilient learners. We actively encourage participation in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, with many enrichment opportunities across all subject areas, including international links. We value the contribution made by all and are proud of the strong culture of learning and mutual support between pupils. Our staff work hard to ensure that all students fulfil their potential in a supportive and friendly environment. As a school we are always seeking to improve and value the input from all our stakeholders.
