Archway

Archway Academy is a Pupil Referral Unit located in Middlesbrough, serving students in Key Stages 3 and 4 from the Redcar and Cleveland area. The academy provides a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils who may be facing challenges such as permanent exclusion, attendance issues due to anxiety, or those who are new to the area. Archway focuses on meeting individual needs, offering both short-term and long-term placements to facilitate a successful return to mainstream education or to support ongoing learning.

The curriculum at Archway is designed to promote personal, social, emotional, and academic development. Students have the opportunity to earn rewards through the 'Archie's' system, which encourages resilience, citizenship, and employability skills. Additionally, the academy places a strong emphasis on careers education, ensuring that students are well-informed about various post-16 pathways, including apprenticeships and technical qualifications.

With a current enrolment of 68 pupils and a significant percentage eligible for free school meals, Archway is committed to fostering a sense of community and responsibility among its students. The academy actively collaborates with local schools and agencies to ensure a smooth transition for students moving on from Archway.
