Elm Park Primary School - Admissions
Home School Information Admissions Admissions Welcome to Elm Park We welcome new children into our reception class and throughout the year. For a friendly welcome and to find out more about our wonderful school, we encourage all families to book a tour with our Headteacher. Reception Class 2024 We are warmly welcoming parents of children due to start school in September 2024 to tour our fantastic school. Dates of our tours can be found below. Please contact us to book a place. Primary school admissions - South Gloucestershire Council Starting School in Reception Starting school can be a big step for a child and we try to ensure that each child is helped to settle in happily and quickly. During the Summer Term, prior to entry, an evening meeting is held for parents. At this meeting, arrangements are made for the children to make visits to school to meet the teacher and other children in their class. We call these our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions. Timing for these are available on the school’s yearly calendar. These induction arrangements give children an opportunity to become familiar with the teacher and the school surroundings. It is also an opportunity for parents to discuss any particular concerns or queries. During the first two weeks in September, children attend on a part-time basis – mornings only. More information about these arrangements is given during the summer term. In year entry to our school When moving schools to Elm Park you will be welcomed into our family. Children love coming to school here and build lifelong friends and memories. When you join our school, your child’s class teacher will meet with you as a parent/carer to find out more about your child, their likes/dislikes, hobbies, academic work and any concerns you may have. Children are paired with a buddy in their class to help the settling in period. Staff at Elm Park are always available to speak to if you have any questions or concerns. In Year Admissions/Transfers - South Gloucestershire Council Admissions South Gloucestershire Council manages our schools admissions (this includes in year entry and when starting the school in reception). Please contact them to find out if we have spaces or to complete an application form for your child starting in September. As the children start year 6, a message will be sent to each family from the Local Authority to guide you with secondary school admissions.
