I have worked closely with children's centres (different locality) throughout my career and thought it would be the perfect way to start and introduce my daughter to a children's centre to engage and socialise and for me to make new mummy\/daddy friends. I walked into the osbourne childrens centre to gain some information\/time table of different groups me and my daughter could join, a lady opened the door to me and I explained I would like a timetable and to know of groups that run within the centre, the lady handed me time table and said all 5 locality childrens centres are in there and she walked away leaving me alone in reception looking through the time table, I did not felt welcome here, she did not introduce herself, she did not ask anything about my daughter- age\/ needs ect I felt really disappointed and deflated. I am a first time mummy who has many years experience working with children and thankfully mine and my daughters journey has been very smooth so far, however I couldn't help but think if my story was different and I was struggling within some aspects of my life e.g postnatal depression, anxiety etc!!
